Soon after my father's death and hence, the end of 6 and a half years as a caretaker, I took off for the Mauser Ecohouse Artist's Residency in the Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica. Nestled in the rugged hills, I spent my time painting, healing and enjoying the fascinating beauty of the jungle that surrounded me. Several times during my stay, a few of us would venture out to the coast. It was the rainy season and though it did not rain every day, it was always either raining, overcast or cloudy. This is a view from a hilltop near Manuel Antonio National Park. I had lost the group I was with and walked several miles uphill in the pouring rain looking for a place with wifi where I could try to contact someone to give me a ride back to the residency. It was at an open air restaurant I finally stopped to enjoy a beer and fish taco as I waited for my ride. Soaking wet and tired, with a storm approaching, I was in heaven, here on earth.
