Rarely do you see the pristine beauty that exists to this day in the protected areas of the Florida Panhandle. Often there are no roads and if like me, you do not own a boat, then the walk can be long. It is well worth the time. The dunes are still large in areas that have not been battered by recent hurricanes. Cape San Blas is one such place. Memories of my childhood come rushing back each day spent exploring. The Scrub Oak grows abundantly and bends into shapes that mimic the Dunes near the Gulf Shore. Tucked between the Dunes they provide a respite from the heat and a wonderful place to camp. The sand is as white as sugar here and the sea life plentiful. It is a place of magic.
