Inspiration for

Just off Paradise

Paradise is the name of a favorite beach bar on Santa Rosa Island. Located on the sound, it faces north and in summer the sunsets are in full view.

There is live music, an outdoor bar and plenty of space to dance or sit in the sand. Boats anchor or tie up to the dock within earshot of the music and guests laugh, play and enjoy their cocktails, many while sitting in shallow water to keep cool on hot days.

After sunset one evening, as I walked out on the dock to take a break from the crowd, I witnessed this combination of color dancing and reflecting the last of the day's light in the sky.

The original was sold to a collector in California, but "Just off Paradise" is available as a fine art print on paper, canvas or metal.

I am an Island,
An island I will always be.
Alone to heal much heartache,
To fend off the threatening sea.
 
I am an Artist,
An artist I will always be.
Finding solace in my box of paints,
With pen I heal a broken me.
 
I am a Woman,
A woman I will always be.
Alone to raise the sons I love,
A mothers love, enough for thee.
 
I am a Pillar,
A pillar I will choose to be.
To love is to stand tall and strong,
For those that are of one with me.
 
I am a Child,
A child I will always be.
Our Father I choose to depend,
And honor on the bended knee.
 
I have a Shell,
A shell that is a part of me.
Like a crab that curls up deep inside,
To hide and heal, to be set free.
 
Free from the pain of a life we live,
To feel the pain is to be,
Full and deep and true…
To a Soul that is the Eternal Me.
