For many years I lived in The Midwest and found the shores of Lake Michigan to be stunningly beautiful. Just as I did as a girl in the woods of Alabama or the coast of Florida, I found great solace on this rocky shore. Nothing penetrated my mind while I sat there. There was only the lake, the sky, the gentle sound of the water washing over the rocks onto the shore, and me. Below is a short poem that came to me as I painted the first in this "Schoolhouse Beach" series.
Once Upon a Rocky Shore
When once upon a rocky shore,
I walked and gazed and sat before…
Near no high mountains or endless sea
Just the many rocks and me,
To contemplate and listen to
The waves wash up and cleanse anew,
The many rocks upon the shore
A peaceful sound, the lake, no more.
The actual image of "Schoolhouse Beach" on paper is 11 x 14". It is printed on high quality, slightly textured paper and available matted for a standard framing size (20 x 24"). It is also available without the mat.
The actual image of "Schoolhouse Beach” on Canvas is 30 x 40". The image reaches to the edge and appears to be an original painting. The outer edges are finished as a "gallery wrap". This means that the outer edge of the front of the print is mirrored, printed and wrapped around the edge. It results in the illusion that the image extends around the outer edges of the canvas. No framing is necessary.
Limited Edition prints are signed and numbered by the artist. The number of the print will be printed over the total number in the edition. For example: #5/100 means that print is the 5th in a limited edition of 100 prints.
No other sizes will be made available. The number in the edition will not be increased.
